Ever since the anniversary of a young woman’s death strange things have been happening at the White Oak Inn. Now, her spirit’s roaming around, and an employee is receiving threatening letters. What dark secrets wait to be found? The clock is ticking and you, as Alex Hill, must uncover the truth before it’s too late. Environment: The environment was sufficiently large that I didn’t get bored or claustrophobic like in some of the ND games. I liked that there were different areas that were all part of one continuous setting (with a bike feature introduced part way that saves travel time). I really liked the bike! I got a little endorphin rush every time I saw my little bike parked. You could tell there was a lot of thought that went into the details of the environments and which assets were placed in them. Puzzles: I’m not a big puzzle fan and I appreciated that there were not too many in this game. The ones that were there were solvable but still made me have to use my brain in a satisfying way. I was really impressed with some of them! If you like puzzles, there were additional optional puzzles to solve. The quality of the environments don’t match the rich beauty of the original Nancy Drew games–the assets and lighting were kinda wonky–which is reasonable for an indie game, but it meant a lot of the environments were places I didn’t really enjoy spending time in (two exceptions would be outside the curio shop and the entrance to Alex’s room).
