Ever 17 The Out of Infinity Direct : 67382b
Takeshi Kuranari, an ordinary college student, visits the underwater theme park LeMU. An accident occurs, trapping Takeshi and 6 other individuals inside LeMU, 51 meters below the surface. With no hope of rescue, Takeshi explores LeMU along with the mysterious girl Tsugumi and part-time employee You, searching for a way to escape to the surface. A theme park of dreams and hopes sunk in the depths of the mysterious blue ocean. Can dreams and hopes still be found there? Or is there some other mystery lurking? Overcoming one crisis after another, they search for a way to escape! I’m leaving this review as positive for now, but I sadly suspect it will change to negative the deeper I get into my playthrough. Ever17 is widely considered Kotaro Uchikoshi’s magnum opus, and for good reason; many of the strong ideas, philosophies, twists, sciences, character beats, and messages that are present throughout his body of work can be traced by to Ever17, and are still present in this remake. Still, I’m not a superfan of Ever 17 or its pacing; for a story about being trapped in a sinking underwater theme park, there’s a real lack of Anything Happening. The characters putter around waiting for things to happen, and the bulk of the game is getting to know those characters, which is great when you like them and tedious when you don’t.
