I never really got into DRL, but this spiritual successor to it had me thoroughly gripped for a long, long time. It’s got a lot of traditional roguelike DNA in it, but the turn-based gunplay feels very fresh and unique. There are a lot of different ways to build out the three starting classes, and the inclusion of ‘challenge’ runs with specific restrictions is a great way to explore the strengths of those different builds. Mastering the systems and figuring out how to become an unstoppable demon blender is deeply satisfying.
