I picked this up because it fits in a genre that I really like, the price was good, and it at least looked interesting but I didn’t expect that much from it. When I played it I was very surprised how much I enjoyed it and ended up having to force myself to stop playing to go to bed, This has the feeling of 1 more game all over it and a lot more than what it shows on the face. The only request I have for this game is make it multiplayer, I want to play this multiplayer coop on our youtube channel.
I found that the ‘Robotron 2084′ style 4 way movement control option transformed the gaming experience and made it far more enjoyable and playable than the default ‘Asteroids’ style rotate and thrust movement scheme. The voxel style graphics are really well executed and give the game a distinctive look & feel and the different adversaries all have their own quirky strengths and weaknesses. A little more guidance on the different weapon systems would be a welcome addition.
Only other minor point is that the ‘pricing’ for items in between rounds (I’ve mostly played the ‘surround’ game mode so not sure if it affects the other game mode) is like an out of control Bull Market i.e. one round a repair ‘costs’ 60 points but if you badly need a repair in the following round, the pricing has doubled!
